On this private tour to Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguin Colony, our tour begins with a 9:00am (flexible) pick up from your lodging in Cape Town and the nearby locations. We start with a quick drive-by city orientation trip to visit significant buildings and landmarks in the heart of the city.
After that, we'll make a photo stop in the Bo-Kaap (Cape Malay Quarter), which is full of vibrant homes with a rich history. If any locals are visible, you could even get the chance to say hello to them. Your tour guide will explain the significance of the colourful dwellings' historical context to you.
We travel in a scenic car down the Atlantic Coast, passing through Three Anchor Bay, Bantry Bay, Clifton, and stopping in Camps Bay. The coast is bordered by mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. As you take in the breathtaking views of the Twelve Apostles and Camps Bay beach, Maiden's Cove is the ideal location for you to make memories with unforgettable images. One of the best sites in Cape Town to shoot panoramic pictures of the ocean, Camps Bay Beach, Table Mountain, Lion's Head, and the lovely suburbs of Clifton, Camps Bay, etc. lies at this cove. This is the so-called Kodak moment.
We leave Hout Bay and travel along Chapman's Peak, stopping at the overlook to take beautiful pictures. It should come as no surprise that Chapman's Peak is one of the world's most picturesque treks.
Before reaching Hout Bay, we will pass via Llandudno, which is renowned for having some of South Africa's most costly real estate. When you get to Hout Bay Harbour, you may choose between doing some shopping at the market or taking a 45-minute boat ride to Seal Island to see the seals.
It will take 45 minutes if you decide to take the optional boat journey to Seal Island. Weather permitting, this outing. Since the temperature tends to drop when we are at sea, kindly bring a lightweight jersey.
With the spectacular vistas of Long Beach and Noordhoek below us, we continue along the coast with an optional stop in Noordhoek. The Village Roast in Cape Town offers some of the greatest coffee in the city for customers to purchase on their own.
There will be an optional stop for wine sampling at the stunning Cape Point Vineyards. Surrounded by picturesque vineyards and with views of the ocean in the background, the region's cool sea winds cause a sluggish growing season and a late harvest, which produce a Sauvignon Blanc that is really unique and well-known for its deep minerality, structure, and tone. Highly suggested options for lunch include a picnic overlooking the man-made dam or an optional sit-down meal in their restaurant.
We take our famous shot with the Cape of Good Hope name board while exploring the Cape of Good Hope. We'll also look at the Vasco Da Gama and Dias monuments here. Along the route, you will observe a variety of animals and plants as well as lovely beaches.
We will travel by car to Cape Point from the Cape of Good Hope. We will have a choice of taking the Flying Dutchman Funicular or a 15-minute walk to the Cape Point Lighthouse after we arrive at Cape Point. We will also investigate the Cape Point, the southernmost point of Africa, where the warm Agulhas current of the Indian Ocean and the chilly Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean meet.
Our next stop is the colony of African penguins in Boulders Beach, where your guide will accompany you to the viewing area so you can have a close-up look at some of the 2500 breeding couples there. On the boardwalk, you might even come across one or two of these magical animals walking next to you.
You can see the bright beach huts in Muizenberg on the way back. Change rooms are located in the beach cottages. These bring to mind the "bathing machine" of the 1800s, a cart-like device that was rolled down to the water's edge to allow the ladies to change into their bathing suits.
Drop off will be back at guests' accommodation in Cape Town at approximately 18:00 pm.
