  From the Pico do Carvão viewpoint, you get a panoramic view of the central part of São Miguel Island: • Both the north and south coasts — you can see both shorelines at once; • Green hills and volcanic ridges, covered with cryptomeria and eucalyptus forests; • Pastures and farmland, divided by traditional stone walls — a typical Azorean landscape; • Wind turbines lining the hilltops; • On clear days, you can see eastern parts of the island, including distant mountains and high plateaus.   From the Vista do Rei viewpoint (Sete Cidades, São Miguel Island), you can see one of the most iconic landscapes of the Azores: • Sete Cidades Lake, with its two distinct parts — Lagoa Azul (Blue Lake) and Lagoa Verde (Green Lake), separated by a bridge; • The caldera of an extinct volcano, surrounded by steep slopes; • The village of Sete Cidades, nestled along the lake’s edge; • On clear days, the ocean visible on the horizon.

  Ponta da Ferraria

  Ponta da Ferraria is a unique spot on São Miguel, where hot geothermal springs meet the Atlantic Ocean. Here, you can bathe in a natural pool with warm water, its temperature varying with the tide: it’s especially pleasant during low tide. Surrounded by black volcanic rocks, the spot offers stunning ocean views.
