One of the most important shrines in Nara, it was founded in 768 AD and is dedicated to Kasuga Okami (including Takemaki Tsuchi-no-Mikoto). It is famous for its magnificent vermilion architecture and rows of stone lanterns, which are particularly beautiful in spring and autumn when the shrine's lanterns are lit.
