Located in Hakone City, on the southeast corner of Mount Fuji, it is a famous sightseeing spot in Fuji Hakone. Owakudani, a tourist attraction in Japan, is the remains of a crater formed by a volcanic eruption on the northern mountainside of Mount Kami at the end of the Hakone volcanic activity about 400,000 years ago. Also known as "Great Hell". Most of the spring water on the ground of Owakudani is poisonous. It was originally called Oojigoku, which was formed by the eruption of Mount Hakone 3,000 years ago. It was renamed Oojigoku when Emperor Meiji visited there in 1876.
