Around 9 am your guide will pick up you at your guesthouse. Follow him along the river and uphill to the entrance of the National Park. Here you will have a great chance of spotting Bukit Lawang’s semiwild Orangutans and the lovely Thomas Leaf monkeys. Meet up to 4 different monkey species, gibbons, turtles and the melodious peacock on your way through the densely wooded mountains. Stop for a refreshing tropical fruit snack and hike up to an unforgettable viewpoint from where you can overlook the river valley and the mountains of Gunung Leuser. Restore your energy with a yummy lunch and continue trekking. Around 4 pm you will arrive at our campsites close to the river. Relax and refresh yourself in the clear water or under a waterfall. Have some tea/coffee while watching Orangutans building their nests before nightfall if you're lucky. The day ends with a homemade dinner and chatting or playing games with your guides and trekking mates. Fall asleep surrounded by magical jungle sounds.

Wake up in the morning together with the wildlife of Gunung Leuser National Park. After you enjoyed a beautifully decorated breakfast, you can choose between relaxing and walking around at the campsite or trekking for a few hours to see more inhabitants of the wonderful Indonesian rainforest. After lunch your jungle trek will end at the Bahorok River, from where you will raft back to Bukit Lawang on big rubber tires which are knotted as a boat. That promises a lot of fun! With our traditional “jungle taxi” you will arrive in Bukit Lawang between noon and 2 pm where your guide will accompany you back to your guesthouse. Do some more activities in the afternoon or just relax in a hammock and let the impressions of the last 2 days sink in…
