What to expect

Travelers explore the Juhu Marine Trail on a guided coastal walk along Mumbai’s intertidal shoreline. The experience begins with a short orientation on tidal cycles and safety. Participants first explore the sandy seabed, observing a variety of shells, clams, and other burrowing molluscs. The walk then moves into the muddy intertidal zone, where travelers spot crabs, sea anemones, and learn about traditional fishing techniques used along the coast.

The trail continues to the rocky intertidal zone, where exposed rocks and shallow tide pools reveal marine life adapted to waves and changing tides, including molluscs, small fish, and other intertidal organisms. Led by an experienced naturalist, participants learn how tides shape these habitats, how marine species survive harsh conditions, and how different organisms are connected within the coastal food web. The walk emphasises careful observation, minimal disturbance, and responsible exploration, concluding with insights into coastal conservation and the challenges faced by Mumbai’s marine ecosystems.
