After visiting Pena Palace, you will have free time to discover the historic center of Sintra. Explore the narrow streets and don't forget to try the famous queijadas and pillows. We suggest to lunch in the historic center of Sintra or in Óbidos.

3Obidos
From the magic Sintra, Óbidos is about 1h drive north. Óbidos enchants visitors with its medieval atmosphere, narrow cobblestone streets, and stunning castle. As you explore, be sure to take in the panoramic views from the castle walls and meander through the quaint village streets lined with whitewashed houses decorated with colorful flowers. At the main town gate, Porta da Vila, you’ll find intricate blue and white tiles and a small chapel that add to the town’s charm. Rua Direita, the main street, is ideal for shopping local crafts, sampling traditional sweets, and trying the local cherry liqueur, ginjinha, which is traditionally served in a chocolate cup. Comfortable shoes are recommended for navigating Óbidos’ cobbled streets. You can explore most of the village’s highlights in about three to four hours, making it an ideal afternoon destination.
