Experience the vibrant and breathtaking beauty of Mornington Peninsula, a captivating wine region and the ultimate summertime playground for both young and young-at-heart Melburnians. Just an hour away from Station Pier (your Melbourne Cruise Ship Port) this maritime wine region offers great sightseeing, australian wildlife and lunch with wine.
We will meet you at the boom gates at Station Pier which is just before the carpark at 9am. This is approximately 100 metres from your ship.
Just an hours drive south from Station Pier and we will arrive at Moonlit Sanctuary, an Australian Wildlife Sanctuary. Your guide will show you what you can see and do and then you can spend some time wandering around and checking out the animals. This includes feeding the kangaroos and a koala encounter. The experience here is self guided.
After leaving the very cute Aussie animals we head to the Mornington Peninsula a popular weekend getaway location for locals in summer as well as a world class wine region. We visit the iconic Merrick's General wine store for a high quality lunch-local and seasonal produce with a glass of wine. Here we will also enjoy a guided wine tasting of local wines, Bailleau and Elgee Park.
Returning to Port (Station Pier) after lunch we will go to the highest point on the Mornington Peninsula for more sightseeing. This one will take your breath away with amazing views over Port Phillip Bay.
On the return jouney and only 25 minutes from Port is a cluster of over 80 historic bathing boxes, also known as beach huts. This is a small, usually wooden and often brightly coloured, box above the high tide mark on popular bathing beaches. This is a wonderful photo opportunity with Melbourne City Back drop and a chance to get sand inbetween your toes before heading back to Port.
