Aconcagua is the highest mountain in South America, but climbing the towering 6,961-meter (22,841-foot) peak is a feat left to the professionals. This full-day excursion is the ideal way for less ambitious hikers to experience the magnificent landscapes of Aconcagua, with a hike through Aconcagua Park, spectacular views of important sites such as the Potrerillos reservoir and the Puente del Inca, and a delicious box lunch
Pickup starts at 8:00 a.m. Pickup for this excursion is only from hotels located in the Mendoza city and Chacras de Coria area. If you are staying in an Airbnb or if you did not select hotel pickup, please contact us to arrange the nearest meeting point. Please note that it takes approximately 45 minutes from the starting time to pick up all tour passengers. Our guide will welcome you personally in the lobby.
The tour begins with morning pickup from your central Mendoza hotel, where you'll meet your guide and a small group of no more than 16 people. We will head southwest along Route 86, crossing the tunnel in the town of Cacheuta to reach Potrerillos after approximately an hour and a half of travel.
Here we will see the wonderful view of the majestic Cordón del Plata mountain range, the main source of water in Mendoza, and the picturesque Potrerillos reservoir, a clear mirror of water surrounded by mountains.
After the stop at the Potrerillos dam, we continued on the way to Aconcagua Provincial Park.
The highlight of this adventure: Aconcagua Provincial Park. We will get our permits from the park guards and begin our one and a half hour walk, which will allow us to experience the surreal views of the highest peak in America, its flora, fauna and beautiful sky, to the Laguna de Horcones viewpoint, where We will be able to see the South Wall and the summit of the highest mountain in America. Does not include entrance to the park (Argentine pesos only). All passengers must have a valid passport.
On the way back from Aconcagua Provincial Park, we will travel about 3 kilometers until we reach the "Puente del Inca", a natural stone bridge with thermal springs that crosses the Vacas River.
After the visit to the Puente del Inca, there will be a technical stop of approximately one hour for lunch. The excursion includes a picnic lunch.
After enjoying a full day in the mountains, you will return to Mendoza, where after three/four hours of travel you will end your excursion with the return to your hotel.
