Few places offer a deeper glimpse into Roman life than the dramatic seaside towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Before Mount Vesuvius erupted, Pompeii thrived as a lively trading town full of bars, shops, restaurants, and brothels, while Herculaneum was a smaller, wealthier retreat for the Roman elite.
With your expert archaeological guide, explore ancient streets, hear stories of preserved people and artifacts, and walk in the footsteps of gladiators, slaves, and senators. Ongoing excavations continue to reveal new discoveries for visitors to enjoy.
If you'd like to stop for lunch, we can recommend a scenic winery on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius for a delicious meal and wine tasting. Please note: choosing this option will extend the tour to approximately 7–8 hours instead of the standard 5–6.

After exploring Pompeii, we’ll take a short drive to Herculaneum—a wealthier and better-preserved town than Pompeii, thanks to the different volcanic materials that buried it. Here, you’ll see remarkably intact wooden beams, fabrics, and even food remains that offer a rare glimpse into daily Roman life. Highlights include the House of the Mosaic Atrium, the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, and the beautifully preserved thermal baths. Your guide will explain the meaning behind the frescoes, mosaics, and the town’s advanced infrastructure, giving you a deeper understanding of Roman society. After your guided tour of Herculaneum, you can choose to stop for an unforgettable lunch at a family-run winery on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Enjoy local wines and a delicious meal overlooking the vineyards and the volcano. Please note: if you opt for the winery lunch, the total duration of the tour will be approximately 7–8 hours instead of the standard 5–6.
