Discover the magic of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, one of Costa Rica’s most extraordinary natural destinations and a paradise for nature lovers. This unique ecosystem is known for its remarkable biodiversity, including more than 85 species of mammals, over 350 species of birds, around 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, and nearly 3,000 plant species, including hundreds of orchids.
During this 2.5-hour guided nature walk, your local naturalist guide will help you discover wildlife and reveal the hidden details of the cloud forest. As you explore the trails, you may observe colorful birds, insects, frogs, and unique plants that make this ecosystem so special.
The experience takes place in small groups of up to 8 participants, creating a relaxed and personalized atmosphere that allows for better wildlife observation and a deeper connection with the Monteverde Cloud Forest.

Meeting and pickup
The front desk is located within the parking lot, where you can purchase entrance fee tickets and meet your guide for a minibus ride to the trail entrance. This process may add 20 to 30 minutes to your schedule. If you arrive by car, please park in the reserve's official parking lot.

Located near the entrance of the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, the Colibrí Gallery is a unique wildlife photography gallery and craft store surrounded by the lush cloud forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica. The area is well known for attracting several species of hummingbirds and other wildlife, making it a great place for nature observation and photography. The gallery features impressive wildlife photography by renowned British photographers Michael and Patricia Fogden, whose work has appeared in National Geographic and other international publications. Their images capture the remarkable biodiversity of Costa Rica, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects of the cloud forest. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful stop in nature while exploring wildlife photography, nature-inspired art, and locally crafted souvenirs just steps from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

2Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve
Explore the world-famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in Costa Rica, located along the Sierra de Tilarán between Puntarenas and Alajuela. During this guided nature walk, you will explore lush cloud forest trails surrounded by towering trees covered in moss, orchids, bromeliads, and other unique epiphytes typical of this misty ecosystem. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local naturalist guide, guests will search for wildlife hidden in the forest canopy and understory. The reserve is home to a remarkable diversity of species, including hummingbirds, toucans, the iconic Resplendent Quetzal, frogs, butterflies, insects, and native plants. With the help of professional optical equipment and expert guidance, you will have a greater chance to observe wildlife while learning about the biodiversity and conservation importance of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Please note that the entrance fee to the reserve is not included.
