From the area you will start the trekking, that will take you as far as the entrance to the gorge. Gorropu is a gorge of erosive origin, one and a half kilometres long, marking the border between the Barbagia territory of Orgosolo and the Ogliastra territory of Urzulei. It has been modelled over time by the force of the Rio Flumineddu stream flowing at the bottom, fed by waters that cross the Supramonte, partly infiltrating underground tunnels, partly re-emerging from springs downstream of the gorge. The torrent has eroded the limestone rock to form the canyon. Its walls contain fossils that reveal its underwater genesis, which occurred between 190 and 60 million years ago.

You will trek among the rocks of the canyon. These carbonate rocks are millions of years old and contain various fossils (shells, sea urchins), testifying to the marine genesis of this place.

- The path to the canyon is beaten and presents no difficulties. Inside the canyon, however, you will be walking on rock, scree and the passage becomes difficult as you get deeper into the canyon.
- Children are allowed if already accustomed to hiking. For younger children, a baby carrier is recommended.
