Your afternoon will be wonderfully spent discovering the ancient art of Roman mosaic-making. After a short introduction to traditional techniques, you’ll explore the principles of texture, composition, and marble tile cutting as you create your own mosaic to take home.

What to expect

The workshop begins with an introduction to the history and techniques of Roman mosaics. Afterwards, you’ll learn and practice the key principles of texture, composition, and marble tile cutting to create your very own mosaic to take home.

Our goal is to teach the authentic methods of traditional Roman mosaic craftsmanship, so your artwork will meet the same standards and requirements as ancient pieces.

By the end of the session, you’ll have created a personal mosaic — approximately 7” x 5” (about 18 x 13 cm) and weighing around 14 oz (about 400 g) — to take with you as a unique souvenir.

This is a full immersion experience: you’ll work in a real mosaic studio and use professional tools. For safety reasons, we recommend this activity for participants aged 12 and above.
