This tour presents a focused journey through two of Azerbaijan’s most distinctive geological landmarks. Travelers gain direct access to the Beshbarmag Mountain formation known for its five-peak structure and centuries of cultural significance. The program includes expansive views over the Caspian corridor supported by expert insights into regional ecology and spiritual heritage. The journey continues into the Khizi region featuring the Candy Cane Mountains and their striking iron-rich color bands shaped by natural oxidation processes. These formations deliver exceptional visual contrast and valuable geological interpretation in a compact program. The full experience is designed for travelers seeking a premium, science-backed, visually compelling encounter with Azerbaijan’s northern landscapes.
We can pick up the guests from the hotel or appoint 2 main meeting points and take the guests from Qosha Qala Qapisi (Double Gates) which is the main entrance for the Old City and Nizami Metro station which is at the center of Baku and near all hotels around. Your guide will be waiting at these points with the sign of Visit Land Azerbaijan
Travelers who do not require pickup can mention this in the "Special Requirements" section while booking the tour. Our tour operator will contact the Lead traveler to confirm and discuss the details.
After pickup, travel about 90 minutes from Baku to Beshbarmag Mountain in the Siyazan District. Known as “Five Fingers” for its unique rock formations, this 382-meter peak is a prominent pilgrimage and viewpoint along the main northern highway. Visit the small shrine area linked to ancient spiritual traditions and local legends, including stories connected to Noah’s Ark. Enjoy a short, manageable ascent and panoramic views over the Caspian coast and Siyazan lowlands, with guided historical and natural explanations during a 60-minute visit.
The tour continues to the Candy Cane Mountains, located in the Khizi District, reached by a 50-minute drive from Beshbarmag. Positioned near the town of Khizi along the Baku-Quba highway, this geological formation is known for its vivid red, pink, white and orange mineral bands. These pigment variations are produced through long-term oxidation processes affecting iron-rich sediments. The striped patterns intensify under low-angle sunlight and represent a visually distinct example of Azerbaijan’s geological diversity. The color bands result from mineral weathering rather than stratified sediment layering, giving the hills their signature painted appearance. Visitors spend about 60 minutes walking around the area with guidance explaining the geological processes and visual characteristics. The tour concludes after the visit to the Candy Cane Mountains. The return transfer to Baku takes 80 minutes, ending with drop-off at the hotel or selected meeting point.
