Located on the promontory of La Puntilla, Fort St. Philip is one of the most picturesque places in Puerto Plata. In addition to the colonial fortress, amphitheater and 19th century lighthouse, it offers views of Mount Isabella and Puerto Plata Bay. This is one of the best places to admire the monumental passenger ships visiting the city.
Macorix House of Ron is a rum factory with a tradition dating back to the late 19th century. Here you can see the oak barrels in which the rum is aged, learn about the history of this liquor, and taste several types of rum! :) The specialty of the factory is not only select rum, but also spiced rum, mamajuana and exotic liqueurs based on white rum...
The Malecon waterfront boulevard is one of the longest streets in Puerto Plata. Here the blue of the Atlantic mixes with the green of the coconut palms and the vegetation along the coast, and the intense colours of the many murals decorating the coastal buildings. Enjoy the ride and have a look on the Statue of Neptun, god of the sea!
