Split, “The most beautiful city in the world," as its inhabitants like to say, is more than 1700 years old. Back in the 3rd century, Roman emperor Diocletian decided to build his retirement home here. His palace, UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments was a foundation of today`s Split.
