Enjoy a unique experience that blends adventure, nature, and culture in one of Mexico’s most impressive and remote destinations : Calakmul.
The tour begins with a guided jungle walk, where you’ll have a higher chance of spotting wildlife such as monkeys, tropical birds, and occasionally larger mammals in their natural habitat. This close connection with the jungle makes the experience truly authentic and different from a typical archaeological visit.
The walk leads to the Calakmul archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll explore the ceremonial center and admire impressive structures like Temple II, one of the tallest pyramids in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Accompanied by expert local guides, you’ll discover not only the historical importance of this ancient Mayan city but also the natural value of the surrounding biosphere reserve. Jungle sounds, untouched landscapes, and local knowledge come together to create an authentic, immersive, and unforgettable experience.

We begin the pick-up and then we head towards the Calakmul Reserve, the trip is 3 hours. Once in the reserve we will have a scenic drive through the low tropical jungle for approximately 1.5 hours and will only stop briefly in case of wildlife sightings. After crossing the jungle we will explore the Archaeological Zone of Calakmul Mixed Heritage of Humanity according to UNESCO. We explore the areas open to visitors, such as the civic and ceremonial center, the tallest structures over 50 meters high, the solar observatory of equinoxes and solstices, among other multiple uses. Many of the buildings can be climbed, so it is still possible to see the view that previously only the kings and most powerful of the city could see. During the walk you will be accompanied by a guide who will share information related to this world-renowned park that was once the most feared and glorified Mayan settlement.
