This is one of the most popular tours. It takes you to the fovourite Tala Game Reserve where we do a 4x4 Game Drive. From Tala we go to see lions and elephants at the Natal Lion Park. On the same day we proceed to Howick Falls and Nelson Mandela Capture Site ending the day in the Drakensberg Mountains. On day 2 the major activity is hiking in the Drakensberg in the beautiful Monks Cowl.

    Day 1

    Depart from Durban at 7am and head off to Tala Game Reserve

    Tala Game Reserve spans some 3,000 hectares, encompassing a mix of acacia thornveld, open grassland and a sensitive wetland, which attracts more than 380 bird species, and plenty of big game, including the rhino, kudu, hippo, giraffe and wildebeest and many more. At Tala we go on a 4x4 Game Drive moving to different points within the game reserve in search of animals.

    From Tala Game Reserve we proceed to Natal Lion Park, a small but beautiful game park where we see elephants and lions. There is also a big bird species and lots of indigenous trees.

    From Natal Lion Park we proceed to Howick Falls, a 95 m spectacular water fall.

    FromHowick Falls we travel a short distance to Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Here we visit the Museum and the world renowned Nelson Mandela sculpture. Nelson Mandela was arrested on 5 August 1962 outside Howick, Natal, South Africa. He spent the next 27 years of his life in prison. ​ The Nelson Mandela Capture Site commemorates this moment in history with a visitor centre and a world renowned sculpture.

    From Nelson Mandela Capture Site we travel to the Drakensberg Mountains for the night.

    After breakfast we proceed to the Monks Cowl Camp where we begin our hiking into the Drakensberg

    We go hiking at the Monks Cowl. The Monk's Cowl Nature Reserve with its breathtaking vistas of sweeping grasslands on the lower reaches, to magnificent towering cliffs and waterfalls cascading for hundreds of metres makes this an area of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park worth visiting. The hiking is flexible depending on one's wishes and level of fitness. It can be anything from 2 hours to 6 hours.

    After doing the hiking we head back to Durban arriving at around 6pm to conclude this 2 day tour.
