Nyerere National Park – formally known as Selous Game Reserve
A newly established Park is part of what is known as Selous Game Reserve. Founded in 2019 and covering over 30,000 square kilometres, now the largest National Park in Africa. The park boasts Tanzania's largest elephant population and many lions, leopards, African hunting dogs, buffaloes, and hippos. Species commonly seen are bushbucks, red and blue duikers, elands, hartebeests, hyenas, giraffes, oryx, reedbucks, impalas, waterbucks and zebras.
The park has the most extensive range of safari activities, from Romantic Boat Safari along the Great Rufiji River, legendary fly camping trips, walking, and classic game driving in thriving wildlife areas.
We offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off services from most hotels and tourist accommodation areas within Dar es Salaam city, including the city center, Masaki, Oysterbay, Mbezi Beach, Upanga, Kariakoo, and nearby surrounding areas.
Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. You will drive approximately 4–5 hours to Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. Upon entering the park, enjoy an en-route game drive while heading toward your accommodation inside the park. Wildlife sightings may include elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, impalas, and several species of antelope. After lunch and some time to relax, depart in the afternoon for a boat safari on the Rufiji River, where you may see hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birdlife along the riverbanks. Later, return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for a morning game drive in Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. The park’s diverse landscapes of savannah, river systems, and miombo woodlands offer excellent opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, impalas, and various species of antelope. Late in the morning, return to the camp for a hot lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, head out for another game drive, exploring different areas of the park in search of wildlife while enjoying the beautiful scenery of this vast wilderness. Return to the camp in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

With more time in the park, this day offers a deeper exploration of its vast wilderness and excellent chances to observe wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, impalas, and other antelope species. Late in the morning, return to the camp for a hot lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, continue your safari with another game drive, discovering new areas of the park while searching for wildlife and enjoying the scenery of this remarkable ecosystem. Return to the camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam. While exiting Nyerere National Park, enjoy an en-route game drive, offering a final opportunity to spot wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and various antelope species. Continue the drive through the Tanzanian countryside, arriving in Dar es Salaam in the afternoon where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your safari.
