This private tour offers an opportunity to explore Beijing's neighbor city - Chengde. It was built in Qing Dynasty and popular for the royal members as the summer resort. Long drive both way around 3 hours and you can have time to explore this Summer Resort as well as Puning Temple. You will be picked up at the hotel lobby at 7:00am and drive around 3 hours to the city of Chengde which is located around 250km away. You will pass by the Jinshanling Great Wall. Once you reach Chengde you will first visit the Chengdu Summer Resort which is much bigger than Summer Palace. Constructed between 1703 and 1792 during the Qing Dynasty, the Mountain Resort was the exclusive place where the emperors and royal members spent summer. It is regarded as one of China's four famous gardens, and the other three are Summer Palace in Beijing, Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden in Suzhou. The western and northern parts of the Summer Resort are the mountain area which commands a beautiful view of layer upon layer of green hills. You can enjoy the natural scenery with fresh air.
After lunch, you will visit Puning Temple that is one of the famous Eight Outer Temples in Chengde. There is a large wooden Buddhist statue with thousands of hands and eyes in the main hall that is one of the famous large-scale wood-carved Buddha statues in China. So it’s worth to take a look. Transfer back to your hotel in Beijing to finish the entire trip.
