What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Departure Point: The tour departs from the cruise ship dock in Haines, Alaska. Guests staying at many local lodgings can be picked up for the tour. Please let us know the name of your lodging. Cruise Guests: Meet your guide ashore near the information booth. They will be holding a sign with our company logo on it. If you do not see the guide by 15 minutes prior to the tour, please call the tour operator. Hotel and B&B Guests: This tour departs from in front of your lodging. Watch for the van with our company logo. If you do not see the guide by 15 minutes prior to the tour, please call the tour operator.
Cruise ship guests: Meet our guide near the Information Booth ashore. Guests in hotels: Meet our guide outside the hotel. Look for the Rainbow Glacier Adventures Logo on our sign. If you don't find the guide by 10 minutes before the tour time, please call our office.
What to expect
Your guide has scouted out the best areas for the day's photo shoot. Since this is a exclusive tour, you will be able to work directly with the guide to decide which locations and subject matter you want to focus on. Depending on the lighting and weather, different locations in the Chilkat Valley boast specific photographic highlights. May, June, and July feature wildflowers and bald eagles. Beginning in August, pink salmon begin their run up the Chilkoot River to spawn and brown bear often come down to the river to feed. When bears are present, every effort will be made to give you safe bear viewing and photography.
The theme is flexibility, fun and learning. A simple point and shoot camera or smartphone will work, but by all means, bring all your photo gear.

- This tour requires a certain amount of walking on uneven and rocky surfaces.
- Motorized wheelchairs or scooters cannot be accommodated.
