After pickup from your hotel we will drive to Machame gate with the whole team then,. The adventure begins at Machame Gate for park registration. Once on the trail, you enter a lush, emerald world of montane forest. The path is often misty and atmospheric, with moss-draped trees and giant ferns. This zone is home to exotic birdlife and the elusive black-and-white Colobus monkeys. As we ascend, the air is fresh and humid. Our expert guides move at a "Pole Pole" (slowly) pace to ensure your body begins its journey toward acclimatization. By late afternoon, we reach Machame Camp at the forest's edge. Here, you will find your tents already pitched by our hardworking crew. Enjoy your first mountain dinner under the stars as the forest sounds lull you to sleep. It is a beautiful introduction to the diverse ecosystems of Mount Kilimanjaro and the beginning of an unforgettable week. • Elevation: 1,830m to 2,835m • Distance: 11km • Hiking Time: 5–7 hours • Environment: Montane Forest
After a hot breakfast, we leave the rainforest for a steepening path into the moorland zone. The tall trees give way to giant heather and rocky landscapes. We cross several small streams before traversing a rocky ridge that leads onto the Shira Plateau. This ancient volcanic crater offers expansive views. As the clouds shift, you will catch clear glimpses of the majestic Kibo Peak. The hiking is more exposed today, so sun protection is vital. We continue across the plateau to reach Shira 2 Camp. The thinner air becomes noticeable here, but the wide-open scenery provides plenty of inspiration. In the evening, the plateau is often bathed in a golden sunset, offering a perfect photographic opportunity. Your team will have warm water and snacks waiting as you settle into this high-altitude wilderness for the night. • Elevation: 2,835m to 3,850m • Distance: 5km • Hiking Time: 4–6 hours • Environment: Moorland
Today follows the mountaineering rule of "climb high, sleep low." We head east toward the towering Lava Tower, a massive volcanic plug. The landscape transforms into a sparse, rocky alpine desert. We reach the base of Lava Tower at 4,630m for lunch. Spending time at this altitude challenges your system and triggers vital red blood cell production for the summit. After lunch, we descend into the stunning Barranco Valley. This descent is visually spectacular, featuring the unique "hidden garden" of giant Senecios and Lobelias. The camp is nestled beneath the Great Barranco Wall, offering a dramatic backdrop. Although you end the day at a similar altitude to where you started, your body will have adapted significantly to the thin air, preparing you for the higher camps ahead. It is a long but rewarding trek. • Elevation: 3,850m to 4,630m to 3,900m • Distance: 10km • Hiking Time: 6–8 hours • Environment: Alpine Desert
The morning begins with an exciting scramble up the Great Barranco Wall. While it looks intimidating, the "Breakfast Wall" is a fun hike that requires using your hands for balance in a few spots. No technical climbing is involved, and our guides will assist you every step of the way. Once at the top, you are rewarded with incredible views of the Karanga Valley and the southern glaciers. From here, we traverse hills and valleys before descending into the Karanga Valley. We then make one final short climb to reach Karanga Camp. This is a shorter hiking day, designed to give your body a chance to recover and store energy for the upcoming summit push. Enjoy a hot lunch and spend the afternoon resting and taking in the panoramic views of the clouds below. This restful afternoon is the secret to a strong finish. • Elevation: 3,900m to 3,995m • Distance: 5km • Hiking Time: 4–5 hours • Environment: Alpine Desert
We leave Karanga Camp and hit the junction that connects with the Mweka Trail. The path ascends through a desolate landscape as we climb toward Barafu Camp. "Barafu" is the Swahili word for ice, and the camp feels like the edge of the world. You are now positioned directly below the summit glaciers. Upon arrival, we serve an early dinner so you can get as much sleep as possible. Your guides will conduct a final briefing, checking your gear and your health. This is a time for mental preparation. You will be at high altitude, so resting is key even if it is difficult to sleep. The atmosphere is filled with anticipation as you look up at the peak you will soon conquer. We will wake you around midnight with hot tea and biscuits to begin the final, glorious stage of your journey to the Roof of Africa. • Elevation: 3,995m to 4,673m • Distance: 4km • Hiking Time: 4–5 hours • Environment: Alpine Desert
The most rewarding day begins at midnight. Under the stars, we climb through heavy scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim. This is mentally demanding, but the rhythmic "Pole Pole" pace leads you upward. As the sun rises, you reach the rim for the final walk to Uhuru Peak. Standing at 5,895 meters, you have reached the highest point in Africa! The feeling of accomplishment is indescribable. After celebrating and taking photos, we begin the long descent back to Barafu for a short rest and brunch. We then continue down to Mweka Camp, located back in the forest zone. The air feels rich with oxygen as you descend, making you feel revitalized. Tonight, you will sleep deeper than ever before, knowing you have successfully stood on the Roof of Africa. It is a day of true triumph and endurance. • Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m down to 3,100m • Distance: 15km • Hiking Time: 12–15 hours • Environment: Arctic / Forest
On our final morning, we wake to the sounds of the tropical forest. After a celebratory breakfast with the team—including the famous Kilimanjaro songs performed by your porters—we make our final descent to Mweka Gate. The path is a gentle downhill walk through the lush rainforest, providing a great opportunity to reflect on your achievement. At the gate, you sign out and receive your official gold certificate for reaching Uhuru Peak. This is a time for farewells to your mountain crew, who have become like family. Our vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Arusha for a well-deserved hot shower and celebration dinner. You leave the mountain with life-long memories and a new perspective on what you can achieve. Your Tanzanian adventure has reached its peak, literally! • Elevation: 3,100m to 1,640m • Distance: 10km • Hiking Time: 3–4 hours • Environment: Rainforest
