1Tarangire National Park
Your 3-day Northern Tanzania safari begins in Arusha with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most rewarding wildlife destinations and famous for its magnificent baobab trees, seasonal wetlands and large elephant herds. Upon arrival, begin an exciting game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes, where you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, impalas, warthogs and numerous bird species. With luck, you may also spot lions and other predators moving through the grasslands. Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site inside the park, surrounded by the sounds and scenery of the African wilderness. Continue your game drive into the afternoon, taking time to appreciate Tarangire’s dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife before departing in the late afternoon. Drive to Karatu for your overnight stay at a mid-range or luxury lodge or hotel, according to your preference.

2Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast at your lodge, depart for the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable full game-drive experience. Often described as one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations, the crater is a remarkable natural amphitheater surrounded by towering walls and supporting an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Explore the crater floor in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, gazelles and other species, with opportunities to witness predators and prey in their natural environment. The crater is also one of the places where you may be fortunate enough to encounter the endangered black rhinoceros. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location inside the crater while surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. After lunch, continue exploring the crater before ascending in the late afternoon and returning to Karatu for another overnight stay at your selected accommodation.

3Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, depart from Karatu for Lake Manyara, a beautiful and diverse wildlife sanctuary nestled between the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the shores of Lake Manyara. Begin your game drive through a remarkable variety of habitats, from lush groundwater forests and open woodland to grassy floodplains and the lake’s scenic shoreline. Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, baboons, monkeys and a wide variety of colorful birdlife. Lake Manyara is particularly famous for its tree-climbing lions, although sightings are never guaranteed. Depending on the season and water conditions, you may also see large concentrations of flamingos and other waterbirds around the lake. Enjoy the peaceful combination of wildlife, forest and spectacular Rift Valley scenery before departing the park. In the afternoon, drive back toward Arusha, with drop-off available at Arusha Airport or your hotel in Arusha, marking the end of your memorable 3-day Tanzania safari.
