This journey leads you through the breathtaking Jebel Bani mountains and the lush hidden oasis of Souss Massa. Along the way, you’ll be accompanied by a certified landscape guide whose passion for the region’s geology, wildlife, and desert ecology brings every dune and valley to life.
Your team—guides, drivers, and cooks—are Amazigh, the nomadic people of the mountains and the Sahara. Traveling with them means stepping into a world shaped by ancient traditions, warm hospitality, and a unique connection to the land. You won’t just observe their culture; you’ll feel part of it.
As the sun sets and the desert quiets, you’ll experience the true magic of the Sahara: endless silence, soft sands glowing under the stars, and a sense of inner peace that only the desert can offer. Expect plenty of fresh mint tea, delicious slow-cooked tagines, rhythmic Amazigh songs around the fire, and stories passed down through generations.

Marhaba! Welcome.
We will discuss the pickup point with all travelers individually.
In the early morning we will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to meet the camels and camel drivers. The team loads the camels. After admiring the first view of the beautiful mountain range of Jbel Bani, it is time to start the ascent of Jbel Bani.
After a good morning of hiking and enjoying the views of the mountains, we'll find some shade under an acacia tree as a break. Here you will also enjoy a delicious lunch that the team has prepared for us. If you are lucky, you might even spot some wildlife, like ostriches or onyx.
After our lunchbreak and fueled up from the meal, it is time to cross a pass in Jbel Bani. Afterwards we will be descending into a small oasis, which will be the site of the first peaceful night in the Berber style bivouac camp. Our team will ensure everything is ready at the camp—from arranging the tents to setting up the cozy seating area—so that we can later enjoy a peaceful and unforgettable evening under the stars.
While our team is busy setting up our camp (mobile bivouac) and preparing dinner, you'll be enjoying some tea. For those who want, there will be some time to discover the surroudings, play games, chill out, tell stories, and watch the sun set behind the mountains. You'll be spoiled again with some great food in our made-up restaurant in the camp. Then get a good night rest for the next day full of adventure.
After breakfast, we will head out on our second day of hiking through the Erg Chigaga desert. On the way to the valley, you'll be treated to a magnificent view of the Chigaga plateau and dunes. Did you know that these are the largest sand dunes in the whole of Africa?
After a good hike through the sand dunes, it's time to fuel up! We'll then have a freshly cooked lunch under an acacia or tamarisk tree. You will have some time to relax the legs and enjoy the cooling shade.
After our little break, we will continue our journey through the stunning, golden dunes of Erg Chigaga, taking in the vast desert landscapes that stretch endlessly in every direction. As the afternoon sun begins to soften, around 3 pm, our dedicated team will set out ahead of us to prepare the desert camp for tonight.
Our second camp will be built at the foot of the largest dune in Chigaga, an extraordinary place. You will be welcomed with some Moroccan tea and you will have some time to relax, watch the sunset and play nomad games. You will again receive a homecooked dinner. Afterwards, rest well for the day ahead of us!
Upon waking, after breakfast, we set off on a three-hour trek through the ocean of sand, crossing the dunes to reach a small bivouac.
For those who want, can take a short nap at midday. Others will have time to explore the surroundings on their own. A fun afternoon awaits, alternating between camel riding through the dunes and sandboarding on the dunes.
After our camel rides and sandboarding, you will again be welcomed back in the bivouac camp with some tea and cookies. With a delicious homecooked dinner, we will close of this gorgeous day under the stars. You might even be treated to some live berber music!
Our last breakfast together, sharing stories and memories. Cheers to many more!
