In the beating heart of Salento, Galatina is a city that lives between art, history and music, a place where traditions intertwine and renew over time. Famous for its Church of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria , Galatina is also one of the capitals of Taranta, the dance that embodies the vibrant soul of this land. Every summer, the city comes alive with the overwhelming rhythm of the Notte della Taranta, where the notes of pizzica, accompanied by the beating of tambourines, awaken the streets and squares, making Galatina an open-air stage. Music is not just an art: it is a way of living, feeling and celebrating the Salento folk tradition. Strolling through the alleys of Galatina, you will hear the tambourine beat and the sound of ancient melodies that speak of stories of loves, labors and hopes. Grika culture and traditional music are an integral part of the daily life of this city, which never ceases to tell its authenticity.

Ostuni the white city & Grottaglie with its ceramics

    2 stops
  • 7

Small, full of charm and simply beautiful: Ostuni, known as the White City, is a town in Salento that conquers all its visitors! Known as "the White City", Ostuni is a truly pretty village that stands on three hills in the land of Salento. Located right on the south-eastern slopes of the Murgia, Ostuni is famous for its historic center characterized by white lime buildings and houses. The custom of using lime for construction is very ancient and it seems that it arose not only because this was an easily available product and gave greater light to the city streets but also because in the Middle Ages it was thought to be a natural disinfectant against the plague.
