While AIM OF THE TRIP: to discover the geology, the birds and the flora of “El Tajo de Ronda Natural Monument”.
Starting point: Puerta de Almocábar.
We face one of the best preserved landscapes in all of Andalusia
We will cross the three bridges over the Río Guadalevín and pass all the important historical monuments of the city of Ronda, making a brief foray into the historic center. We will enjoy the beautiful landscapes and explore the surrounding countryside at length.
Probably the most pleasant and varied hike in southern Spain
Our hike – a variant developed by me, the most interesting and curiously very uncrowded – takes the shape of an “8” and gives us plenty of time to adapt the pace and activity.
End point: Alameda del Tajo.
The guide will be wearing a uniform and binoculars.
At the corner of the street is the most famous geological accident in Spain, “El Tajo de Ronda Natural Monument” and its new bridge over which we will stroll. The birds of the cliffs, notably the red-billed choughs, are the delight of observers. We will descend on a beautiful path which winds through a hill covered with almond trees and goes down to the river which has carved out the Tajo canyon.
We will discover the three bridges that crosses the Natural Monument
At this point we leave the traditional tour to complete a circular route that explores a rural Ronda and off the beaten track. Together we will discover the Mediterranean vegetation and cultivated plants of the Andalusian countryside. We will finish in the magnificent Alameda Park, an ideal place where the memory of the most important botanists in the history of Andalusia is commemorated.
