    Puerta del Sol

    The Puerta del Sol (The Sun gates) is the city center of Madrid. It has been home to the so-called kilometer zero of the country's radial roads since 1950. The oldest building at Puerta del Sol is the Casa de Correos (The Post Office) and it has the tower clock that was built and donated in the nineteenth century by José Rodríguez de Losada, and whose chimes of 12 o'clock at night on December 31 mark the traditional taking of the twelve grapes to the vast majority of Spaniards.     Plaza de la Villa

    Here we see the oldest the House and Tower of Los Lujanes (XV century), built in Gothic-Mudejar style, which is located on the eastern side of the square. It is followed in antiquity by the Casa de Cisneros (The House of the Cisneros, sixteenth century), a Plateresque palace that closes the southern part of the enclosure, and the Casa de la Villa (The House of the Villa, seventeenth century), in Baroque style, one of the headquarters of the City Council of Madrid, located in the western area of the square.

    The Plaza de España is a large landscaped space in the city of Madrid located in the Argüelles neighborhood, at the southeastern end of the Moncloa-Aravaca district. In its center there is a monumental fountain dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes. It acts as a continuation axis linking the Gran Vía with the Princess Street.     It is the best rooftop in Madrid that I always recommend visiting during the first arrival in Madrid because it is the only place that allows you to see all of Madrid, not just one part as it always happens with the others. From time to time I go up with my visitors but you can also do it alone if you want. On weekdays until 17:00 the entrance costs 5 euros and from 17:00 and on weekends - 10 euros.
