What to expect

Descent of the Mondego River, the largest Portuguese river, in a 12km sector between the Carvoeira Penacova dam and Praia Fluvial dos Palheiros, Zorro Coimbra. This is the largest and most commercial tourist entertainment activity in our country, and is recommended for getting started in canoeing. It has stunning natural surroundings with varied vegetation and countless birds. During the summer there are some small rapids that provide some excitement. Halfway down the descent, at around 1pm, there is a stop on the riverbank where participants receive food supplements, which they must bring from home.
