The Münster cathedral is a remarkable building, a combination of impressive architecture and cultural significance for the city. It was founded in the ninth century and has since then been expanded and renovated, which brings it to its beauty of today. Admission is free, so you can even marvel at the stunning interior of the cathedral!
A place full of wonder and talent, the Stadttheater, or the city theater, was re-opened on February fourth, 1956. After being bombed during the second World War, the theater was a worldwide example for post-war modern theater architecture. The theater is still open nowadays, being the podium to many performances.
If you’re in the old town and you hear the melodic sound of church bells, chances are that you’re hearing the carillons of Münster. They can be heard daily at twelve, four, and five in the afternoon and at seven at the evening, so be sure to stop by at one of those times, to hear the popular attraction.
Another significant sound of Münster, is the horn that echoes through the city, every night at 9 o'clock. Martje Salié climbs the 298 steps up to her office, the tower of the Saint Lambert’s Church. Why? Well, the story contains years of macabre tales that darken the history of Münster. Find out more during this tour, which guides you through every secret the city has.
