    El Calafate

El Calafate opens its arms as a starting point for adventurers eager to discover the natural wonders of the region, like the Perito Moreno Glacier. While it’s not the only glacier, it’s the one that has made the city famous worldwide. El Calafate, considered the capital of glaciers, is located by Lago Argentino, the largest Patagonian lake. Here, you’ll also find the Spegazzini Glacier, forming the natural border between Argentina and Chile, and the Upsala Glacier. Is El Calafate just about glaciers? Not entirely; you can also immerse yourself in Argentine rural culture. From Calafate, you’ll learn about gaucho culture and enjoy a traditional barbecue. Upon arrival, you’ll meet the tour leader at the airport and transfer to the hotel, where you’ll have time to relax or explore. We’ll depart from Puerto Moreno at the foot of the walkways on the Canal de los Témpanos. Our boat will sail in front of the north wall of the Perito Moreno glacier, allowing us to appreciate its towering walls and stunning landslides. We'll experience the sounds of ice breaking, a remarkable natural phenomenon. The glacier advances continuously, causing the accumulation and detachment of massive ice blocks along its 5 km front. Its height exceeds 60 meters above the water, creating thunder-like sounds as pieces fall. Arriving at the park, our guide will show us the walkways for views of the colossal ice wall, and you’ll have free time to explore before our agreed meeting time.
