Discover the true story of the 47 Ronin.
Your guide was raised in a region closely connected to the 47 Ronin and has been familiar with their story since childhood.
The journey begins at Zojoji Temple, where you will reflect on Tokugawa Ieyasu, whose legacy helped shape the samurai values that influenced Japan for centuries.
Next, visit Tokyo Tower. It's exploring Tokyo's transformation from the Edo period to the modern metropolis it is today. You may even meet a ninja here.
The tour concludes at Sengakuji Temple, the final resting place of the 47 Ronin. Here, you will learn about the spirit of Bushido, loyalty, and honor that continues to resonate with Japanese people more than 300 years later. You will offer incense at each of the 47 samurai graves, experience a simple Japanese calligraphy activity using kanji characters.
At the end of the tour, your guide will ask you one final question:
"If you had been one of the 47 samurai, what would you have done?"
Meet your guide at SHIBU HACHI BOX, next to the Hachiko statue outside Shibuya Station. Your guide will be holding a name board.
The tour will conclude within the grounds of Sengakuji Temple.
Our guide will be waiting at the entrance holding a name board. Together with your guide, you will stroll through the temple grounds, visit the main hall, and take memorable photos with both the temple and Tokyo Tower in the background.
Together with your guide, you will visit Tokyo Tower and enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo from the Main Deck. While overlooking the modern city, you will learn how Tokyo has transformed from the Edo period into one of the world's largest metropolitan areas. There will also be time to take photos, explore the tower, and visit a spot where you might even encounter a ninja if you're lucky.
Together with your guide, you will visit Sengakuji Temple, the final resting place of the 47 Ronin. After learning the story of loyalty, honor, and sacrifice that made them legendary throughout Japan, you will offer incense at their graves. You will also take part in a simple sutra-copying experience (using a brush pen to carefully trace Japanese characters while reflecting on your personal wish or prayer), dedicate your completed work to the temple, and receive a Goshuin (traditional temple stamp) as a meaningful reminder of your visit. Before the tour concludes, your guide will ask for your personal thoughts: “What would you have done?”
