You will begin your tour at the Eduardo VII Park, overlooking the Tagus River and the city.
Continue to the center of the city to see the Marquis de Pombal Square, with its impressive statue.
From there, you will travel along the Avenida da Liberdade, one of the most expensive shopping streets in Europe and home to many of the city’s finest hotels and restaurants. We will visit Rossio Square, one of Lisbon’s most famous squares, frequented by locals and tourists alike. Marvel at the unique façade of Rossio Station, a railway station built in the 1800’s. See the famous Theater D. Maria II, previously known as the Palace of Estaus – the Inquisition Headquarters.
Visit the oldest neighborhoods in the city such as the Alfama, a maze of cobbled streets, ancient houses, and small shops. Learn about the origins of Fado music. Return on your own to listen to the melancholy tunes at one of Alfama’s many Fado bars and restaurants.
Explore the Barrio Alto, the bohemian district, where the old houses are decorated with colorful artwork. At night, Barrio Alto is home to many lively bars and restaurants.
Next up is the Belem District, Lisbon’s monumental and historic area. It is filled with parks, tree-lined plazas, and museums. See the ornate Jeronimos Monastery, where the monks used to provide assistance to seafarers. Visit Belem Tower and the Monument of Discoveries, where you will learn about Portugal’s Golden Age of Exploration. Finally, end your day with the “pastel de Belem,” Lisbon’s delicious custard delicacy.
