Hiking to one of Egypt's highest mountains from Sharm el Sheikh will allow you to see the dawn from Mount Sinai's summit. You will ascend the 7,497-foot (2,285-m) peak in the predawn darkness, witness first light illuminate the chapel and mosque on the mountaintop, and then descend to the 6th-century Monastery of St. Catherine constructed where Moses is thought to have seen the Burning Bush.

If you decide to embark on a lengthy journey, there are 700 steps you can follow. When you follow this route, a magnificent sunrise is waiting for you at the mountain's summit. If you don't feel up to the challenge, you can take a camel ride up the mountain to the first set of 700 steps. Once the sun has completely risen, it is time to pack up and drive back to Sharm el Sheikh. Time: six hours
