Head to Kiyomizu-dera in the eastern part of Kyoto. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kiyomizu-dera boasts over 1,200 years of history. Besides exploring the temple itself, you can stroll along the charming Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka streets, discover the tranquil Ishibei-koji alley, or experience the traditional Gion and Hanami-koji streets. If you wish to rent a kimono (own expense), this area is perfect for that, allowing you to immerse yourself in the historical setting and create beautiful memories.
Around the main hall, you can see stone statues of white foxes, symbolizing messengers of Inari, holding ears of rice, keys, or jewels in their mouths, signifying protection and a bountiful harvest. Visitors can also write their wishes on the ema (votive plaques) at the ema hall—the adorable fox ema have unique expressions, full of personal character and fun(about 70 minutes)
