Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Rose Valley - Dades Valley At 8:00 AM, we will depart from Marrakech and head towards the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi N’Tichka Pass and making several stops to contemplate the spectacular landscapes. During the journey, we will also visit a cooperative that produces argan oil, where we will discover how this product, known for its numerous beneficial properties for the body, is made. We will then continue to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit the kasbah, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Did you know that famous films like "Gladiator," "Asterix and Obelix," "Sahara," and "The Jewel of the Nile" were filmed here? After lunch, we will move on to Ouarzazate, considered the gateway to the desert, and from there we will continue to the Rose Valley and the Dades Valley, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
After breakfast, we will resume our excursion along the road of a thousand kasbahs, each with its unique charm, until we reach the Todra Gorges. Here, in ancient times, water carved the surface of these limestone walls, creating an unparalleled landscape. In this climbing paradise, we will stop for a walk and admire the scenery. Next, we will reach the village of Touroug, where we will have lunch before continuing our journey to the Erg Chebbi dunes, where a delicious mint tea awaits us. After a half-hour of relaxation, we will embark on a camel ride to reach the tent camp where we will spend the night. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to contemplate the sunset and see how the last rays of sunlight ignite this vast sea of sand. Upon arriving at the Berber camp, we will have dinner and spend the night enveloped in the peace and silence of the desert.
After witnessing a memorable sunrise in the desert, we will have breakfast and return on camels to Merzouga. We will dedicate the following hours to exploring the area of Hassi Labied, where we will visit its oasis and learn about its irrigation system, the Khettara. We will then head to the village of Khamlia, famous for its inhabitants of Sub-Saharan African descent and their music. Did you know that a famous music and dance festival is held here throughout the country? Next, we will head to Rissani, the ancient economic capital of Morocco. Here, we will visit the old market, which takes place three times a week and is known for the barter of animals and the presence of handicrafts, clothing, accessories, Berber medicines, and unique items. After our visit, we will return to Merzouga, where we will have dinner and spend the night in a riad.
After a hearty breakfast, we will depart for Marrakech, passing through the Tafilalet palm grove. During the journey, we will cross acacia plateaus and rocky desert expanses until we arrive in Alnif. Here, we will take the road that will allow us to explore the Anti-Atlas mountain range and Tizi N'tfarkhin. Around noon, we will arrive in Kalaat M'Gouna, where we will stop to relax, stretch our legs, and enjoy traditional Moroccan dishes. We will then continue our return journey to the ochre city, passing through Ouarzazate and the High Atlas mountains. We will arrive in Marrakech around 8:30 PM, where we will say our goodbyes, concluding a fabulous experience in the Moroccan desert.
