The reservoir on the River Cetina is 29 km2 in size, 20 km long and 64 m deep. Lake Peruča was created by the construction of a 56 metre high dam. In the summer months, when the water level drops due to lack of rain, the Dragović Monastery appears on the surface. Lake Peruča is home to many plants and animals, especially various species of fish. It is therefore not surprising that the local fishermen know the lake inside out. Although it may not look like it at first glance, Lake Peruča is full of hidden bays and beaches. This treasure trove has a lot to offer - the Cetina spring, the stone bridge made of Stećak's tombstones, the Church of St. Salvation, views from the Prozor fortress, rushing fountains, goats and sheep on the country roads, elderly people chasing cows, chickens on the way to the beach and all those things you don't usually see in everyday life.
What is Izvor Cetine? Izvor Cetine (Croatian for source of the Cetina) was once one of Croatia's best-kept secrets and visitors can't get enough of this unique, beautiful place. As the word 'spring' suggests, this is the place where the river Cetina gushes out of the earth. Due to its unique shape, Izvor Cetine - or the source of the Cetina River - is also known as the "Eye of the Earth". The water bubbling up from underground forms a natural pool and pours into a nearby river, which feeds it with fresh spring water. Some 105 kilometres further on, the cold water flows towards the Adriatic Sea, to the town of Omiš. In fact, the majestic Cetina River is the longest river in Dalmatia and supplies most of the region with water.
Visit the Plitvice Lakes and immerse yourself in the beauty of Croatia's largest national park and explore its 16 interconnected lakes. Take an electric boat ride on Kozjak, Plitvice's largest lake, or a panoramic train ride through this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore Croatia's largest waterfall, Veliki Slap, where the water plunges 78 metres, and hike through the park on wooden walkways and trails. Encounter various wild animals such as brown bears, grey wolves and the Eurasian lynx. You can also expect to see around 1200 plant species, including rare orchids and endemic plants. Observe how the colours of the lakes change throughout the day. Depending on the sunlight and mineral content, the lakes can shimmer bright turquoise, emerald green or deep blue.
The island of Krk, which is the largest island in Croatia with an area of approx. 406 km², is located at the beginning of the Kvarner Bay region and is easily accessible by motorbike from the mainland via the Krk bridge near Kraljevica. Anyone exploring the island by motorbike should always stick to the speed limit, as the roads on Krk are usually narrow, winding and can become very slippery when it rains. The island of Krk itself is a unique island - be it because of its long history, its valuable cultural assets, its nature or its beautiful bathing bays. There are 60 small villages, towns and cities on Krk, with a population of around 18,000.
Ride back to the starting point in Trogir. On the way, you will pass many beautiful beaches along the Adriatic Sea, where a short stopover is always worthwhile. Many cafés along the route invite you to relax and enjoy. Your tour also takes you through Zadar, a little jewel on the Adriatic.
