  Temple of Karnak

  The Karnak Temple Complex is an expansive assemblage of temples, pylons, chapels, and various structures that exhibit differing degrees of deterioration. The name "Karnak" originates from the Arabic term "Khurnaq," which translates to "walled settlement." The majority of the complex's extant structures can be traced back to the New Kingdom period, which commenced during the reign of Senusret I (approximately 2000-1700 BCE). During the 18th dynasty of ancient Egypt, the area encompassing Karnak was known as Ipet-isut, meaning "The Most Selected of Places." It served as the principal temple for the Theban Triad, led by the revered deity Amun. Recognizing its exceptional historical and cultural significance, the Karnak Temple Complex, along with the splendid city of Thebes, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. El-Karnak, situated approximately 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles) north of Luxor, derives its name from the adjoining and partially enclosed Karnak complex.

  Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari

  Constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Hatshepsut in the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, also referred to as the Temple of the Holy of Holies (known as "sr-srw" in Egyptian), stands as an extraordinary testament to ancient architecture. Situated on the opposite side of the Nile from Luxor, this remarkable edifice is an essential destination for enthusiasts of ancient architectural marvels. Carved into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, the temple's grandeur is amplified by its three expansive terraces, which overlook the vast dunes below. Adjacent to Hatshepsut's burial site, known as El Qurn, her pyramidal mausoleum is perched upon the same mountain range as her tomb, designated as KV20.
