National Historical Museum (exterior visit) During our walk through Skanderbeg Square, we stop in front of the National Historical Museum to admire its impressive facade. The guide will explain the meaning of the large mosaic called “The Albanians”, a powerful artwork symbolizing the country’s history and unity. We do not enter the museum, but this stop offers great insight into Albania’s past through its most iconic mural.
Stroll around the square and hear stories behind the main buildings, such as the National History Museum, the Opera House, and the former Parliament building. Your guide will explain the mix of architectural styles, from Ottoman to Communist-era designs, reflecting the diverse history of Albania.
Et’hem Bey Mosque (exterior visit) One of Tirana’s most beautiful historic landmarks, the Et’hem Bey Mosque dates back to the late 18th century. We stop to admire its elegant architecture and colorful frescoes from the outside, while the guide explains its cultural and religious importance during Ottoman times and its symbolic reopening after communism.
Bunk’Art 2 (exterior visit) We pass by Bunk’Art 2, located in a former nuclear bunker built during the communist regime.
