Departure from Tirana – The journey begins with an early morning departure from Tirana, heading north toward Shkodra, one of Albania’s oldest and most historic cities. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of the Albanian countryside, passing through small villages and lush landscapes. The time specifies the travelling time from Tirana to Shkodra 2 hours ( depending on traffic conditions)
Our first stop is the legendary Rozafa Castle, a fortress perched on a rocky hill with breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Shkodra, the Drin River, and the Buna River. The castle holds centuries of history, dating back to Illyrian times, and is known for its fascinating legend of sacrifice. Visitors can explore the ancient walls, towers, and the ruins of a medieval church, while learning about Shkodra’s strategic role throughout history.
After the castle visit, we head to the vibrant Shkodra Promenade, the heart of the city's social life. This pedestrian street, lined with charming cafés, historic buildings, and boutique shops, is the perfect place for a short break. Take in the relaxed atmosphere, enjoy a quick coffee, and experience the blend of Italian and Ottoman influences in Shkodra’s architecture and culture.
Before leaving Albania, we make a stop at the shores of Lake Shkodra, the largest lake in the Balkans, which stretches across Albania and Montenegro. The Albanian side offers stunning natural beauty, with peaceful waters, traditional fishing villages, and views of the surrounding mountains. This is an ideal spot for photography and a moment of tranquility before crossing the border.
As we head towards the Albania-Montenegro border, your guide will provide insights into the region’s history and cultural significance. After a scenic drive into Montenegro, we arrive in Ulqin (Ulcinj), a coastal town known for its rich history and stunning Adriatic views. Our first stop is Ulcinj Castle, an ancient fortress overlooking the sea. With its well-preserved stone walls, narrow alleyways, and Ottoman-era influences, this historic site offers a glimpse into Ulcinj’s fascinating past, which includes pirates, traders, and diverse cultures.
Ulcinj Promenade & Free Time/Lunch – Following the castle visit, we take a leisurely walk along the Ulcinj Promenade, a lively seaside walkway lined with restaurants, cafés, and stunning coastal views. Guests will have 1-2 hours of free time, where they can either enjoy a delicious seafood lunch, try local specialties, relax by the beach, or explore more of the town at their own pace.
Return to Tirana Following a day filled with exploration and scenic beauty, we begin our return journey to Tirana, arriving back in the evening.
