3Zona Arqueologica de Kabah
Discover Kabah, one of the most distinctive archaeological sites along Yucatán’s Puuc Route, renowned for its intricate stone carvings and historical connection to Uxmal. The two ancient Maya cities were linked by an 18-kilometer sacbé, or white road. Kabah’s most striking landmark is Codz Poop, also known as the Palace of the Masks. Its façade features rows of stone masks representing Chaac, the Maya rain god, creating one of the finest examples of Puuc architectural decoration. Look closely at the detailed carvings and geometric patterns that transform the building into a remarkable work of art. Smaller and often quieter than Uxmal, Kabah offers a closer look at the artistic achievements of the ancient Maya and adds another fascinating dimension to your journey through Yucatán’s archaeological heritage.
