This tour involves 4–5 hours of hiking in Hakone (about 8–9 km), so guests need good fitness. You will traverse part of the outer rim of the Hakone caldera, with possible views of Lake Ashi, the Pacific Ocean and Mt Fuji when the weather is clear. After descending toward Sengokuhara, the day finishes with lunch and an onsen.

The ascent takes about 90 minutes and gains roughly 500 metres. The ridge walk continues for about 2.5 hours through bamboo grass and seasonal scenery before descending to Togendai.

Travel from Hakone-Yumoto to the trailhead is by local bus. The bus fare, lunch and onsen admission are not included in the Viator tour price.

    Sengokuhara

    You will hike up the mountains in the outer rim of Hakone caldera. We will reach the trailhead by taxi and start the hike from around 700metre above sea level. The temperature is generally lower in the mountain this level.

    Mt. Marudake

    You will hike along the ridge after you reach the mountaintop. The ridge hike will take around 2.5 - 3 hours or more if you take more photos or snack stops. This is the highlight of this tour because the view is spectacular on the ridge. You could see the Pacific Ocean, Hakone town, Lake Ashi, the volcanic steam of Owakudani, Mt Fuji, and more along the way.

    You will go to an onsen with both indoor and outdoor baths to relieve the tired muscles from the traverse hike. The onsen has a legendary healing effect. This experience can be customised according to your preference.
