Paddle through the Black Canyon at sunset and continue under a sky full of stars, turning an ordinary kayak trip into an unforgettable nighttime adventure. As daylight fades, you explore historic sites, spot desert wildlife, then pause to enjoy roasted hot dogs and a glowing bonfire right on the riverbank—before a magical return paddle beneath the stars. This is an atmospheric, guided journey that lets you experience the Colorado River in a way few others do.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Tour time is the water time, and if you need complimentary pickup it can start up to 1.5 hours before the start of your tour. We will reach out to you via text the day before your tour with instructions to the pickup area and exact pickup location at the location you picked.
If you do not wish to take the shuttle you can meet directly at the river (Willow Beach). You are required to pay the National Park fee of $25 per vehicle if you do not have a National Park Pass.
What to expect
Paddle out in the early evening (while still daylight) to explore the incredible Black Canyon against the backdrop of sunset and the starry night sky.
Enjoy hassle-free shuttle service from your hotel (12 different pick-up spots on the strip) to your launch point, the serene Willow Beach.
With the evening sun sinking lower into the sky, steer your kayak upriver and into the twisting channels of Black Canyon. You have plenty of light to take in the views of majestic cliffs, hardy desert foliage, and perhaps even bighorn sheep perched on the craggy rocks.
At sunset, your guide will navigate you to shore to watch the sky streak with pink and orange. A crackling fire keeps you cozy, and you can grab a toasting stick for a delicious, crispy snack of roasted marshmallows (S'mores) and hot dogs.
After enjoying the fire, you will kayak back downstream under the stars. The stars begin to sparkle, and quiet descends upon the river, a blissfully serene setting for your return journey.
