Driving north from Liberia is just 35 minutes by route # 1, keep lookinh fot the sign of the national par Santa Rosa and turn right, drive 7km inside of the national park all the way to until the Casona of Santa Rosa National Park.

What to expect

This special ancient place in Guanacaste is one of the most important National Parks in Costa Rica and is World Heritage. First, you will do a walk into the only path of dry tropical forest in Mesoamerica, this is a small trail of about 2km to walk, explore, and admire the majestic and mysticism of this forest with ancient trees, huge roots, and the whole ecosystem surrounding you. After the walk you will reach the CASONA, this is an old house from this Hacienda that became part of history and was the most important place of the invasion of the filibusters into Costa Rica in 1856.

The Santa Rosa National Park is the only Protected Wilderness Area that has a historical museum within its territory. Where we will go to visit and learn about the history of Costa Rica. This excursion can be done in about 2 hours when we will visit the forest and historical museum, but the experience is during the whole time because just driving into the national park will show amazing nature and wildlife around you at any moment you be able to see hawks, eagles, snakes, deers, coati mundi and even the tapir. This is an astonishing forest to enjoy every minute.
