Climbing the Osorno volcano is a great challenge and the perfect highlight of a trip to Patagonia.

It is the perfect viewpoint over the geography of southern Chile. From the summit, we will not only take a deep breath but also enjoy the panoramic views of the Lakes Region and its volcanoes: Puntiagudo, Tronador, Calbuco, Casablanca, Puyehue and, with good visibility, the Lanin and Llaima volcanoes in the distant Araucania region.

This is a glacier climb, physically demanding but not requiring any previous experience, although it does require a very good physical and mental condition.

You will be in small groups. Only one guide for every two clients.

All the guides working with us are local and certified mountain guides.

Our climbing program on the Osorno volcano starts the evening before the climb for two main reasons: pleasure and safety. The lodge at the end of the road is the perfect place to watch the sunset over Lake Llanquihue and the route we will be climbing. Central heating, showers, internet, a restaurant and bar will allow us to prepare our equipment before or after dinner, get to know each other, discuss the details of the climb, relax and enjoy the Osorno volcano in a different way. We will start our climb from the lodge after breakfast and we will return to it after the climb. Where we can use the facilities to shower, change clothes and celebrate our journey into the Andes.

    Osorno

Today we attempt the summit of the Osorno volcano. The ascent to the 2,656m summit begins before dawn and will take us on a challenging trip through volcanic scree, glaciated slopes, and ice climbing. Although it is a mountain ascent that requires the use of climbing equipment and techniques, it is not necessary to have any previous mountaineering experience, although you should be mentally and physically fit for a long trek in mountain terrain. There will be one guide for every two clients. This ratio allows us not only to adapt the pace to your own, but also to introduce and supervise the use of climbing equipment and techniques. We will provide the technical equipment (helmet, crampons, harness, ice axe) and you will need to pack your mountain boots, clothing and accessories (such as a 30L daypack, gloves, sunglasses, headlamp, trekking poles, water & snacks).

    12 hours Admission ticket free
