This is a special experience and chance to experience the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador from the local Kichwa community of Campo Cocha and be surrounded by our local culture, flora and fauna, and the Kichwa people that are passionate about their land and the nature.
Easily accessible by car (30 minutes) or by bus (45 minutes) from Centinela Terminal in Tena to the Las Minas bus stop in Campo Cocha.
On the first day of the tour, you will arrive at Cabanas Awana, enjoy a local welcome drink of local tea before spending the afternoon, resting and enjoying the river or the jungle. A local dinner will be served before a guided night walk through the jungle to discover the nocturnal insects and rainforest life.
On this full day tour we will get an early start around 5am, weather dependent, to visit a parrot's clay lick via canoe. Then, we take a short walk to visit one of the largest and oldest trees in the area. We will visit a local Amazon rescue center and learn the stories of the animals and their rehabilitation. After a local lunch in the cabana, we will learn to make our traditional Kichwa beverage of Chicha de yuca. As the sun sets, we will take a walk to view the wildlife in the area and return for dinner and a good night of rest.
On our final morning, we will enjoy breakfast and then learn the art of making chocolate from our beloved cacao.
