This tour has been designed in order to enjoy as much as possible nature and is offered to all the ones who are so fond of wildlife as I am. I offer a very wide range of topics to focus the tour into. Birding, scenery, photography, cultural interests, flora, hiking.
We are a different option of tourism guides by a naturalist who was born in the area and is willing to take you to all these beautiful places that make me so proud of.
I will be holding a sign with your names on it
This tour might start from the airport or the city of Punta Arenas. After a short drive around the city we go for the Cross hill lookout to have an introduction of the magnificent landscape where Punta Arenas, the Strait of Magellan and the Island of Tierra del Fuego will be part of.
We drive down to enjoy a short walk along the water front prominade to watch some species of seabirds like Rock Cormorants, the Olivaceous Cormorant and the Imperial in different posts part of what was once a quite busy pier with hundred of people disembarking from long journeys of many different countries in the world. We might also find some other interesting species such as the Two banded plovers, Skuas, Dolphin gulls. We walk a bit to get closer to the sign of Punta Arenas and the waters of the Strait of Magellan and ready to go to Puerto Natales.
This is an option to make a technical stop to go birding or just to stretch our legs a bit. This is where the lecture of how this landscape was formed by glaciers and paleo lakes in Patagonia has a lot to do with all the different sceneries to be seen along the way to Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine.
Puerto Natales is a great experience spot for travelers from all over the world. We go for the Black necked swans and Chiloe Wigeons at the sea shores of Ultima Esperanza with beautiful mountains and great chances to take wonderful photographs.
We drive 30 min from the hotel in Puerto Natales ready for a great day in the Park but we will stop at the Milodon Cave first. This is a Natural Reserve where the remains of an ancient animal part of the mega fauna of the area were found. If it is early spring we will find over 50 different species of flowers around, if you are rather interested in birding here we are for Siskins, Black chested buzzard eagles and many others that for sure will be very interesting.
One of the places where we might stop is Cerro Castillo for a break. Right where the border with Argentina is although we wont go through at least not for now. Pampas, guanacos, sheep ranching and in windy days even chances to watch some condors gliding high up.
We are very close to get to the Park even though the scenery is amazing. We go for the Guanacos Valley, the first view of the majestic three peaks that name the Park. A stop at the Paine waterfall for pictures
This is one of the different entrance gates to the Park. A few minutes stop while we go and pay for the entrance tickets we can reuse for 3 days if you do not stay in the Park.
Now we are in the park and depending on where you have decided to stay we will go and visit different biotic provinces and that has a lot to do with birding. This tour includes daily tours in the Park.
We have considered visits around the Park depending on what your interests are, trails that will lead us to beautiful lookouts to see mountains, to get wonderful views of waterfalls and animals.
This is a beautiful spot to take great pictures of the mountains part of the mountain range named as Paine from the very beginning from the natives who used to inhabit the area.
There are several options to enjoy this area of Torres del Paine. The views of the mountains are amazing, perhaps you want to go birding then a short walk towards Pingo is what you are looking for, there is a boat that goes all the way up to where the Grey glacier is. That will take 3 hours for the adventurers where they all come back so happy of the stunning color of the ice and the scenery.
If you are going to any one of the airports in Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales to catch a flight in the evening we might also have a morning in the Park with more nature activities.
