Morning Pick-up: Anywhere in Kigali and one way drive to Kigali Genocide Memorial site before heading to Akagera National Park. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a place of remembrance and learning dedicated to the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda & the road to recovery Kigali genocide memorial site is a UNESCO World heritage site and built at the burial site of 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The museum contains documentation of the genocide and one has to visit this place to learn about Rwanda’s recent tragic history if one is to appreciate the immense progress the country has achieved to date, in terms of reconciliation and development. The museum also contains examples of other genocides in the world. It thus seeks to provide a vital lesson on what blind hate can cause. The museum is free to visit and you can walk through it on your own. There is an audio guide if you want one but for a fee of $15. Allow at least 2 hours for the visit.
After visiting Kigali Genocide Memorial then you will be leaving Kigali towards Akagera National Park for an estimated 2.5 - 3 hours drive with local experts and friendly driver guide, the transport is assured with a choice 4x4 safari vehicle with wifi connectivity to keep you connected with your lovely ones and the world Stop by: Bashana Companies & Imigongo Art Center. with 45 minutes stopover at Imigongo Art Center for Lunch, coffee, restroom, snacks, check arts, handcrafts and relaxing. 7:00 am early morning after your breakfast, you will get picked up from Mantis Akagera Game Lodge and start a full day safari game drive for an estimated 6 hours game drive .with local experts and friendly driver guide, you'll have lunch of your choice at Mihindi Picnic Area. The Big 5 are one of the biggest attractions in Akagera whereby travelers get to see the Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Rhinos. The forest fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains and rolling highlands combine to make Akagera amongst the most scenic of reserves anywhere in Africa.
