This tour takes you to Kojima, the birthplace of Japanese denim, with a focus on the region’s signature processing techniques. After learning how Kojima’s textile industry evolved and how Japan’s first domestic jeans were created in 1965, you will visit WHOVAL’s processing factory to observe artisans applying whiskering, fading, and distressing effects up close.
You will then join a hands-on workshop inside WHOVAL’s factory, using professional tools and machines to process an original tote bag. You may take the finished tote bag home as a souvenir.
The tour concludes with free time on Kojima Jeans Street, a district filled with denim shops ranging from long-established makers to new brands. The street’s limited-edition items, unique craftsmanship, and playful denim-themed decorations offer an ideal setting to experience Kojima’s rich denim culture.
After exiting the ticket gates at JR Kojima Station, your guide will be waiting for you in front of the Tourist Information Center located at the far end on the same floor.
