From Durban our first stop is at the popular game reserve Tala Game Reserve where we go into a 4x4 Game Drive with an experienced guide. Tala Private Game Reserve spans over 3,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, offering an unforgettable wildlife experience. Your tour begins with a leisurely drive through the reserve, accompanied by one of the experienced game rangers. Keep your eyes peeled for the rhino - as well as other exciting species such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and numerous antelope species. As you explore the diverse landscape, your guide will share fascinating insights into the reserve's history, ecology, and wildlife conservation efforts.
From Tala Game Reserve we head to Natal Lion Park where we get to see lions and elephants. Marvel at the thick bush here and a wide range of indigenous trees, lots of birds and much more.
From Natal Lion Park we proceed to Howick Falls which is almost an hour away. This 95 metre waterfall is a joy to watch.
From Howick Falls, 10 minutes away is the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. A favourite place for many tourists. Here we visit the museum which has such amazing information on the liberation history of South Africa. We also visit the world renowned Nelson Mandela Monument within the grounds of the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Here there are excellent photo opportunities.
From the Nelson Mandela Capture Site we embark on the final leg of our journey for the day as we drive through the Midlands Meander area. This is a most beautiful country setting. We continue until we reach the Drakensberg Region.
After breakfast we go to the Monks Cowl Camp to start a hiking which can take up to 5 hours depending on your level of fitness. The hike takes you the foot of the Drakensberg Mountains. The Drakensberg Mountains are a majestic and rugged mountain range in South Africa that stretch for over 1,000 kilometers along the eastern border with Lesotho. The highest peak stands at 3,482 meters (11,423 feet) above sea level. The Drakensberg offers breathtaking landscapes, including towering peaks, deep valleys, and stunning waterfalls. The region is also home to an abundance of wildlife, including baboons, elands, and zebras. Visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, and fly-fishing, among other activities. The Drakensberg Mountains are a natural wonder that offer visitors an unforgettable experience of South Africa's stunning beauty, rich culture, and exciting outdoor adventures. After the hiking we begin our journey back to Durban arriving in late afternoon.
