The Mayan Ritual: Self Guided Cacao Ceremony in Antigua Guatemala

1 hour (approximately)

What sets this experience apart is its quiet intimacy and authenticity. Rather than a group-led ritual, this is a self-guided cacao ceremony, allowing each guest to move at their own pace and connect in a personal, unforced way.

The ceremony centers on Guatemalan ceremonial cacao, honoring its cultural roots and heart-centered tradition. Every element—sage cleansing, intention-setting, ritual release, and gratitude—is intentionally simple, creating space for reflection rather than instruction.

The result is a grounded, memorable experience—one that feels both sacred and approachable, and lingers well beyond the cup itself.

What to expect

During this experience, you’ll take part in a self-guided cacao ceremony designed to help you slow down, reflect, and connect with the heart.

You’ll begin in a calm, prepared space with a gentle cleansing ritual using sage and a candle, allowing you to settle in and be fully present. You’ll then be served a warm cacao drink made with ceremonial-grade organic cacao from Guatemala. Before drinking, you’ll pause to connect with its aroma and warmth, then sip slowly and intentionally.

With pen and paper, you’ll be guided to write an intention or something you’re ready to release. This is followed by a symbolic ritual of release, where you safely burn the paper in a clay bowl, allowing it to turn into ashes.

The experience closes with a moment of gratitude and stillness, inviting you to notice any shifts and carry this sense of presence with you beyond the ceremony.

This is a calm, reflective experience suitable for travelers seeking a meaningful cultural and sensory connection. You’re encouraged to move at your own pace and engage in a way that feels right for you.
